Hosting
The way we always explain what hosting is, is to use the Car Park analogy.
Imagine you're car is a website and a Car Park is a web server and your car parking space is your domain name.
Therefore, if you keep in mind the three items above, your car (website) needs to be parked in a car park (on a web server) which holds multiple cars (websites) that are parked in allotted parking spaces (domain names).
The whole purpose of the server is to hold websites so that when you access the internet and type in a domain name, the website will appear. You don't just access someone else's computer when you access their website.
So going back to the car park analogy, you have to park your car (website) in the correct car park (web server) in the correct parking space (domain name) in order for your car to be viewed by the general public.
To conclude, hosting is a term that describes the car park (web server) where you park your car (website). The car park (web server) is playing host to your car (website).
Do you understand that? Yes? Good!
